Mabolo cops lauded for swift action

The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) has commended three police patrollers for the swift capture of two men who snatched a bag from a woman walking along Pope John Paul II, Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City, at 5:50 a.m. on February 20, 2024.

The 23-year-old victim was on her way home when the two suspects onboard a motorcycle passed and forcibly grabbed the victim’s bag, which prompted the latter to scream for help.

The three police patrolmen from Mabolo Police Station, namely Jay Duron, Francisco Ramos Jr., and Gem Dayo, immediatel­y responded to the incident and conducted a hot pursuit operation, which resulted in the capture of the two suspects and the recovery of the stolen bag.

Rafter, the deputy city director for operations at the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO).

She added that the CCPO has designated police personnel to at least 70 identified beat areas and points of convergenc­e where they have observed several crimes are committed to enhance security and police presence, like in the areas of Colon Street, N. Bacalso, V Rama, Barangay Mabolo, among others.

She further thanked the Police Regional Office-7 (PRO) through the regional director for the support he has given the CCPO in personnel augmentati­on in beat areas.

Rafter further reminded the police beat patrollers of the importance of their presence in public areas as they also observed lower crime rate after installing beat patrols.

“At least karo’ng mga panahuna, although wala mi nag-ingon nga wala na gyud, but I think na-minimize na gyud siya,” Rafter concluded.
