“Son of God” should appear before solons

-

Given the many issues and controversies now being faced by the Sonshine Media Network Inc., the media company owned by his ministry, the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, televangelist and religious leader Apollo Quiboloy has been ordered by the House of Representatives to appear before its committee on legislative franchises on March 12.

While the camp of the televangelist has acknowledged receiving the subpoena, there has been no confirmation if Quiboloy will be attending. This will be the third time he was invited to a committee hearing after snubbing the hearings held from December 5 to 11 last year and also last February 7.

For now he said he is in hiding after alleging that people are out to “eliminate” him, including agents of the United States and the Philippine governments, respectively.

While we are aware of the charges he is facing in the US for human trafficking --and his own claims that the women who accused him of rape are actually fighting over him-- there is no credible evidence indicating he is actually facing threats to his life.

Warrants of arrest and accusations of rape, perhaps, but nothing much else other than that.

If Quiboloy is indeed as innocent as he claims then he should appear before the House of Representatives to clear up the issues.

That Quiboloy is the son of God is still in question, but what isn’t in question is that he is a citizen of this country and therefore he is expected to obey its laws.

But let’s say for the sake of argument that he is indeed the son of God, then that would actually still be irrelevant. Because even the original son of God, Jesus Christ, after whom Quiboloy named his ministry, submitted himself to the laws of the authorities during his time. After all, he did say "Give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and to God what belongs to God."

Quiboloy should do no less.
