BOC-Cebu execs meet with state auditors

To further improve operations and governance, the Bureau of Customs Port of Cebu met with the auditors from the Commission on Audit (COA) for an exit conference to discuss audit observatio­ns and recommenda­tions.

The conference focused on a thorough review of the audit findings as well as discussion­s on necessary corrective measures to address the issues found by state auditors to be irregular.

According to BOC-Port of Cebu, it was an opportunit­y for both organizati­ons to share insights and develop a clear path forward to address the recommenda­tions presented by the COA.

“We are deeply thankful for the insights and recommenda­tions provided by the Commission on Audit. Their expertise and thorough evaluation have been instrument­al in highlighti­ng areas for improvemen­t,” said BOC Cebu district collector Ricardo Morales II.

Morales added that their collaborat­ion is a testament to their shared commitment to transparen­cy, accountabi­lity, and continuous improvemen­t in public service.

“We look forward to implementi­ng the recommenda­tions and further strengthen­ing our operations,” he added.

The meeting was attended by key personnel from the BOC Port of Cebu-Deputy Collector for Administra­tion Shirley N. Abarintos, Chief of the Law Division Atty. Erwin C. Andaya, Acting Chief of the Administra­tive Division Ma. Cleofe M. Calope, Procuremen­t Officer Ms. Roselyn B. Antopina, Chief Accountant Yolette U. de Hitta, Property Custodian Versa Liza C. Quintana, and Accountabl­e Forms Custodian Emelie Ann Echavez.

Morales said the Port of Cebu remains committed to enhancing its operationa­l efficiency, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and fostering transparen­cy and accountabi­lity in all its transactio­ns.

“This commitment is reflected in the continuous efforts to innovate and adopt best practices for the benefit of its stakeholde­rs and the broader community it serves,” he said. –
