The checks were distributed during the Caravan of Services in the south last Friday as per report from the Provincial government’s official news network, Sugbo News.

The financial assistance to the LGUs, the Capitol stressed, is part of their continued commitment to inclusive development.

It was emphasized that it can only be spent solely for infrastructure projects. The city of Talisay and the municipality of Minglanilla both received a total of P9.5 million.

The Caravan’s host, municipality of San Fernando, on the other hand, got P9.9 million in total. The Municipality of Sibonga, for their part, got P10.3 million while Carcar City received P10 million and city of Naga with P8.2 million.

The checks were personally received by the mayors, vice mayors, councilors, and barangay chairpersons of each LGU together with First District Representative Rhea Gullas.

Meanwhile, a centenarian from Brgy. Inoburan in the city of Naga, Sulpicia Libor Baricuatro also received P100,000 on her 100th birthday.

Gov. Gwen Garcia personally handed over the said amount, plus a wheelchair to Baricuatro during the Caravan of Services in the covered court of the Municipality of San Fernando.

Baricuatro, a mother of nine, revealed that her secret to lasting a century is proper diet and regular vitamin intake.

Aside from the financial grant, Baricuatro also received a certificate of recognition, ABAG Sugbo card, vitamins and seedlings, family food packs from the Department of Social Welfare and Development-7; five kilos of rice and a pair of slippers from the Department of Interior and Local Government; and certificate of entitlement for Sugbo Negosyo to her guardian.

The financial grant from the Capitol is the provincial government’s way of honoring the centenarians in the province for their contributions to society. -
