A delegation from the Province of Ilocos Norte, led by Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc, visited Danao City last week to further strengthen the partnership between the city and the province.

The visit by Gov. Manotoc and key department heads from Ilocos Norte followed an initial visit to Danao City last month by Vice Governor Cecilia Araneta-Marcos with members of their Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

The first visit included productive discussions and collaborative initiatives, which laid out the groundwork for deeper cooperation between Ilocos Norte and Danao City.

Mayor Thomas Mark ‘Mix’ Durano said that the visit is a step further towards a partnership between Ilocos Norte and Danao City and they look forward to more programs together.

In his message addressed to the delegation and to Danao City officials, Durano also stressed that the visit of a third generation Marcos reaffirms and renews their families’ deep relations that started with the strong friendship between his grandfather, Ramon ‘Mano Amon’ Durano Sr. and the late President Ferdinand Marcos Sr.

As part of their benchmarking activity in Cebu, the Ilocos Norte delegation met and discussed several programs with the city’s officials and department heads at the Danao City Hall; visited a special economic zone in the city; plus they also enjoyed the Cebu Safari and Adventure Park, a premier park located in the town of Carmen that houses thousands of animals.

Apart from Danao City, Manotoc also visited the Carbon Food Market in Cebu City and tried the popular Tuslob Buwa.

Manotoc’s group also paid a courtesy visit to Cebu City Vice Mayor, Atty. Raymond Alvin Garcia. Apart from sharing their best practices in local governance, they also discussed programs and projects they plan to implement in the future.

In a separate interview with The Freeman, Manotoc shared that it will now be easier for Cebuanos to go to their province with the opening of the CebuLaoag direct flight.

With this, he hopes Cebuanos would explore Ilocos Norte’s historical sites, taste its gastronomic food, and experience different activities they are offering.

Manotoc also said that they have a promo wherein those who will visit their province will receive special gift packs from the provincial government which contain various delicacies. -
