US Embassy to host education conference

The US Embassy in the Philippines is inviting parents and university representatives to join the Education USA Philippines’ Parent Conference in Cebu City on March 16, 2024 to learn more of their children’s US education journey.

The activity, to be held at the Holiday Inn, is for parents of incoming grade 9 to 12 students who wish to get college education in the US. The conference is designed to help out parents on how to submit a competitive application through tips from Education USA advisors and university admission representatives. The conference is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 12 pm for free.

During the conference, there will be a general session on what US colleges and universities look for when looking at applications. There will also be breakout sessions by grade to detail how a parent and school representatives can support student through each high school year. Pertinent topics will also be given by university representatives.

Slots are limited to 70 participants only, so those who are interested are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible thru manila@educationusa. org with the subject line: "EducationUSA 2024 Parent Conference".

Aside from the said conference, Education USA here in the country also announced that there will be a free development opportunities for guidance counselors here in Cebu and surrounding cities on March 14 prior to the Parent’s Conference also at Holiday Inn.

There will also be online/computer activities so participants are requested to bring at least one laptop per school.

The EducationUSA Guidance Counselor Training is expected to empower counselors to coach students effectively. Participants will learn more about how to support college-bound students in applying to US schools, navigating information on the US Higher Education system admission process and the counselor’s role in the admission process and what to expect.

Since slots are limited, organizers are limiting to two representatives per school only. However, if one school plans to send more than two representatives, they can email request at manila@educationusa.org with their names for consideration. –
