Cebu 6th District Representative Daphne Lagon announced two upcoming multi-million infrastructure projects in the town of Consolacion; the construction of ₱277-million new Consolacion Public Market and the ₱194-million extension of CTUConsolacion.

Lagon’s chief of staff Manuelito Pacaldo said that both projects are expected to commence on the second quarter of this year and be completed by 2025.

Pacaldo said that the new market will be a modern market and the extension building will let students at CTU-Consolacion have more rooms amidst the rising student population of the said university.

Aside from being modern, the new market will also have a parking area at the open space. The market itself will be two two-story buildings connected by a bridge.

To date, the new market has an initial allocation of ₱127 million from the Department of Public Works and Highways upon the initiative of the congresswoman.

As for the extension building of CTUConsolacion with an initial funding of ₱44 million, Pacaldo said this will be an eight-story building with 40 classrooms, an auditorium, and a speech laboratory.

“Need na g’yud og additional classrooms kay nagkadaghan na g’yud ang student population. Daghan sad nga students from private schools nga nibalhin sa CTU-Consolacion,” Pacaldo added.

Pacaldo said that the CTU-Consolacion Campus used to be the Consolacion Community College and was converted into a university during the time of former Cebu 6th District representative and now Mandaue City lone district Representative Emmarie “Lolypop” Ouano Dizon.

Republic Act 11800 which established CTUConsolacion became law on May 27, 2022. It was principally authored by Ouano Dizon and allowed students in Consolacion and neighboring towns and cities to get a college degree there instead of going to Cebu City.
