DOTr launches Oplan Smooth Travel Plan for the Holy Week

The Department of Transporta­tion thru the Special Action and Intelligen­ce Committee for Transporta­tion (DOTr-SAICT) along with other national government agencies hopes a smooth-sailing Holy Week via Operation Smooth Travel Plan.

DOTr-SAICT is closely working with the Department of Informatio­n and Communicat­ions Technology Cybercrime Investigat­ion and Coordinati­ng Center (DICT-CICC) and Scam Watch Pilipinas in mapping out an extensive planning and preparatio­n for the upcoming Holy Week 2024.

Led by DOTr Assistant Secretary for Communicat­ions and Commuter Affairs Office (CCAO) Hector Villacorta and DICT Undersecre­tary for CICC Alexander Ramos, DOTr-SAICT Communicat­ions head Ana Leah Morales, and Scam Watch Pilipinas CEO Jocel De Guzman, the preparatio­n aims to address the expected increase in the number of travelers, cater to their needs at terminals, ports, and airports, ensure smooth traffic flow, and provide safe travel for passengers.

Aside from that, a Memorandum of Understand­ing (MOU) was formally launched between DOTr and DICT in collaborat­ion with Scam Watch Pilipinas and various agencies for the “Online Bantay Lakbay 2024” to establish a wide-reaching #HOTLINE132­6 that will respond to travelers’ and commuters’ needs against online scammers.

This online scammers include fake accommodat­ion, fake Wifi, too-good-to-be-true deals, free vacation trap, fake travel agents, overpriced tours, charity cons, counterfei­t cash, hidden CCTVs, colorum vehicles, selling lost luggage on FB, fake SIMs, fixer, and cheap airline tickets on social media.

The aim of this initiative is to provide a safe and convenient journey for all travelers nationwide in accordance with the directive of DOTr Secretary Jaime Bautista. –
