The Cebu Provincial Board has given Governor Gwendolyn Garcia the authority to sell parcels of land that the Capitol owns in Barangay Kalunasan Cebu City to the members of a homeowner’s association.

Based on the approved resolution of the Provincial Board, the province will be selling to members of the Lokana Homeowners Association Inc. block 37, which is part of the Capitol's property in Kalunasan with a total area of 132,993 square meters.

Governor Gwendolyn Garcia already spoke with the members of the association informing them that they can acquire the lot through the PagIbig Fund. As such, the price will be determined by Pag-Ibig and the Cebu Provincial Appraisal Committee.

"The members of Lokana Homeowners Association, Inc. are amenable to the proposal and accepted the same and in fact have started processing their documents for their application with Pag-Ibig Fund and with the Cebu City Planning Office for their application for Land Development Permit," reads part of the resolution authored by third district board member John Ismael Borgonia. Currently, 18,618 square meters of Block 37 is occupied by the members of the Lokana Homeowners Association.

BUSAY LOT

Meanwhile, the Capitol is allowing the Cebu Normal University (CNU) to use a portion of land owned by the province in barangay Busay, Cebu city.

The Provincial Board has approved the resolution of board member Borgonia allowing governor Garcia to enter into an agreement with CNU for the latter's use of the 10,000 square meters of land of the province.

In October 10 last year, the university's president Daniel Ariaso Sr. sent a letter to the governor and Sangguniang Panlalawigan requesting the Capitol to allow CNU to use the five-hectare land of the province for the expansion of the school.

Instead of donating, the Capitol proposed to allow CNU to use portions of the property through a usufruct agreement, which the university agreed.
