A Cebuano-developed education technology (EduTech) system is introduced to enable schools, especially small and medium-sized private educational institutions, to leverage digital solutions amid tight business competition.

Startup firm Technify, led by technopreneur Michael Cubos, announced the newest EduTech solutions that only cost at least P50 per student, per month, to help private educators provide efficiency and empower them to fully digitize their operations.

According to Cubos, Technify is driven by a vision to redefine education through the fusion of cutting-edge technologies and innovations.

“Our mission is encapsulated in our name – TECHnologies and New Innovations For You. We believe in harnessing the power of technology to inspire, engage, and foster growth in every learner,” said Cubos, who sits as the chief executive officer (CEO) of the company.

Based on a study conducted by the World Bank, the adoption of technology in education can lead to a 25 percent increase in student performance. However, many private schools in the Philippines still face challenges in adopting digital solutions due to limited resources and access to technology.

Cubos said despite the proven benefits of technology adoption in education, many educational institutions in Cebu are still practicing traditional operational systems, and still facing daunting obstacles-from connectivity issues to budget constraints and curriculum restrictions.

The entry of Technify’s School Management System is seen to empower these schools with its comprehensive solution designed to address the unique needs of private schools, without hurting their operational expenses.

Technify’s School Management System aims to address common challenges in schools such as the administrative burden, limited parental involvement, teacher workload, and student engagement.

“The system reduces administration tasks up to 70 percent. It also helps increase parents’ involvement in school. Its parent portal provides a centralized platform for parents to access real-time updates on their child’s progress, attendance, and school activities,” Cubos explained during a press briefing to formally introduce the technology to the market.

Technify’s teacher portal, simplifies classroom management, grading, and communication, empowering teachers to spend more time on teaching and less on administrative duties. With the help of artificial intelligence, teachers can streamline tasks and personalize learning experiences for students.

The system also provides students with an app equipped with tools to track attendance, access grades, and collaborate with peers and teachers. With features like to-do lists, notepads, and student portfolios, Technify enhances student engagement and success.

Cubos added that the company has ensured the cost-effectiveness of the system to motivate even learning centers with as few as 50 students to embark on their digital transformation journey. Pricing is tailored to the specific needs of schools.

Before its formal rollout, the company has already gained interest from educational institutions in Cebu. “We are now talking with [at least] seven private schools in preparation for the next academic year opening.”

Cubos, who is also a cybersecurity-certified professional, assures the digital security of the system, saying it is fortified with multiple layers of security measures to safeguard and protect the schools’ overall data.

Cubos mentioned that while private school owners

are aware of the benefits of full digital operations to both their business and the efficiency of the school, what remains a challenge for owners is the huge investments required to employ full technology solutions on their campuses.

Since Technify’s EduTech is locally developed, and aided by developers in other countries, cost is the primary consideration of the company.

Technify’s School Management System was built by its sister company Overcode Technologies, which built over 100 applications and systems including the Cebu Forward app, RideHero, Mobile Queue and Shopstars, among others.

Technify’s School Management System Solutions has been piloted by San Roque College de Cebu since 2020.

“We want to be a model that going digital is possible and it’s not going to be very costly for them to undergo digital transformation. Technify helped us survive the challenges during the pandemic when all schools shifted to online classes and went digital in their operations,” affirmed educator Sherrylyn Cubos, who is the school administrator of San Roque College de Cebu.

Technify’s School Management System is designed specifically for private school’s K to12 operations.
