ARMM holds ‘ Farmers’ Field Day and Rice Festival’

COTABATO CITY – The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries – Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Integrated Agricultural Research Center ( DAF- ARMMIARC) conducted Wednesday the Farmers’ Field Day and Rice Harvest Festival.

This year’s festival showcased the latest technology on rice farming using “Preci- sion Agriculture” or “Precision Rice Farming”.

Precision Rice Farming refers to a developing agricultural management system for rice that promotes variable management practices within a field according to site or soil condition.

The event was held at the 20- hectare demonstration farm in Barangay Katil in Datu Paglas town in Maguindanao province.

Tong Abas, Manager for Rice Research and Development of ARMMIARC, said the Rice Crop Manager ( RCM) is a decision- making tool accessible through the web browser on computers and smartphones will be tapped as source of RCM recommendation using the device provided.
