DAR-ARMM has new chief

-

COTABATO CITY – The Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) has appointed a former health official as the new head of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).

Dayang Carlsum Sangkula Jumaide formally took her oath last week before ARMM Executive Secretary lawyer Laisa Alamia as DAR Secretary, replacing

Secretary Amihilda Sangcopan, who filed her resignation in August.

Sangcopan, the partylist Anak Mindanao’s 3rd nominee for the House of Representatives, took over the vacated seat of Sitti Djalia Turabin-hataman who resigned from her post on October 2. Hataman is the wife of ARMM Governor Mujiv Hataman.

“We are confident that Secretary Jumaide will serve the agrarian reform partners’ interest in our region,” Atty. Alamia said.

Before Jumaide’s latest appointment, she served as Assistant Secretary of the Department of Health-armm for four years. Starting as a staff nurse at the Datu Alawaddin Bandon Sr. Memorial Hospital in Tawi-tawi (1993-2000), Secretary Jumaide became a health information officer in the same province (2000-2006), project officer of the U.S. Agency for International Development (2006-2010), and ARMM assemblywoman.

Municipal and provincial agrarian reform officers turned over the department's banner and key of responsibilities to the new DAR-ARMM chief. They also handed over a transition report, a personnel inventory and property plan, and an equipment report.

“To Secretary Dayang, I wish her the best. Hope you’ll find it an honor to serve our farmers in ARMM. I did that for 30 beautiful months. Congratulations,” Rep. Sangcopan said.

DAR-ARMM has been consistent in achieving 100% compliance to the Seal of Transparency and open government partnership. The department installed institutional feedback mechanisms to bridge the gaps in service delivery from the municipal to the provincial and regional offices.

“It’s a new challenge for me but I assure you that DARARMM will continue to implement, facilitate, and coordinate the delivery of support services to the agrarian reform beneficiaries,” Jumaide said. “Let’s sustain the gains and bring in more reforms, let’s see to it that the lives of our beneficiaries are exponentially blessed and enhanced beyond the ordinary.”

The DAR-ARMM has 66,000 agrarian reform partners situated in 103 Agrarian Reform Communities and also registered a total of 357 Agrarian Reform Partner Organizations. (Bureau of Public Information)
