October is Indigenous People’s Month
COTABATO CITY – The Bangsamoro Parliament’s Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs Committee has approved a resolution declaring the whole of October as Indigenous People’s Month in BARMM.
The resolution also declares October 29 of every year as Regional Indigenous People’s Thanksgiving Day in the region.
Various BARMM ministries and agencies have also engaged in discussion during CIPA'S ment Academy, Mindanao State University, and other concerned stakeholders will jointly design and implement these programs.
The training programs include the Bangsamoro culture, history, and autonomy, capability building on leadership, local legislation, programs and project development, sustainability, financial management, and accountability and transparency.
Meanwhile, the committee voted to include the disqualification of those who are related within the second civil degree of hearing, presenting their early recovery plans and initiatives for the victims of severe tropical storm Paeng, especially for the Non-moro Indigenous Peoples in the region.
The hearing involved key figures from the ministries of Health, Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs, Human Settlements and Development, Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform, Environment, Natural Resources consanguinity or affinity, whether full or half-blood, legitimate or illegitimate, to any incumbent local official running for an elective position, including their spouses, in the same election for any provincial, city, municipal, and barangay elective positions in their respective areas.
The term of office of all local elective officials will be three years, starting from noon on June 30, immediately following the local elections.
