Cotabato City peace an order situation discussed
COTABATO CITY - The Ministry of Social Services and Development's (MSSD) flagship program, the Bangsamoro Sagip Kabuhayan (BSK), continues to expand its reach, now extending its assistance to 100 beneficiaries
COTABATO CITY -The Bangsamoro Parliament's Public Order and Safety Committee continued its series of hearings here in a serious effort to address the security concerns here.
Elected officials representing various barangays within the city gathered to participate in the recent discussions.
The Ministry of Interior and Local Government presented to the committee the Department of the Interior and Local Government rating system for from various provinces in the Davao region.
The BSK program, driven by the MSSD'S vision to improve the living conditions of residents adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, aims 2022 and 2023 city and barangay peace and order councils, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and order within the city and its constituent barangays.
During the hearing, the committee deliberated on various measures to improve security, with a particular emphasis on the installation of closed-circuit television cameras in streets, entry and exit points, and business establishments. It seeks to strengthen surveillance and monitoring capabilities, crucial in preventing and responding to security threats.
The committee also raised concerns on the pending operationalization of the city’s newly constructed command center. Members of the committee said that this is an attempt to replicate successful security practices observed in other urban areas.
The discussions were prompted by a recent surge in violent incidents and a series of killings within the city, which have raised alarm within the community.
