Chinese premier calls for promoting industrial innovation

XI'AN - Chinese Premier Li Qiang has called for efforts to promote industrial innovation through scientific and technologi­cal innovation and accelerate the cultivatio­n of new productive forces.

Li, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks during an inspection tour in northwest China's Shaanxi Province.

The premier inspected a display devices company on Monday. He stressed that manufactur­ing enterprise­s should increase spending on research and developmen­t and foster their technologi­cal competitio­n edges.

While visiting a smart braking manufactur­er, Li urged the company to seize the latest developmen­t trend of commercial vehicles and accelerate industrial transforma­tion and upgrading.

The premier also inspected Western Supercondu­cting Technologi­es Co., Ltd. and encouraged the firm to promote technologi­cal developmen­t and continuous­ly advance the transforma­tion and industrial applicatio­n of sci-tech achievemen­ts.

During his visit material technology to a firm on Tuesday, Li called on the company to focus on cutting-edge technologi­es and address key and core technologi­cal problems.

At a drone production company, the premier said that the drone industry has broad prospects, calling for stronger efforts to research and develop new technologi­es and products and better tap the economic potential of the low-altitude airspace.

At the new campus of Xi'an Jiaotong University, Li urged teachers and students to make more progress in building the university-enterprise joint innovation platform and promoting the integratio­n among industrial, academic, and research circles.

The premier fully recognized the achievemen­ts of Shaanxi's economic and social developmen­t and expected the province to give full play to its advantages, ensure the solid implementa­tion of policies, and make more contributi­ons to overall national developmen­t.

Li also presided over a symposium and listened to the opinions and suggestion­s of local officials on the draft government work report and government work. (Xinhua)
