Kris & sons set for cruise
Mother’s Day is still three weeks away but already Kris Aquino has finalized how she will spend it — with her sons Joshua and Bimby, naturally.
“We’re taking a sevennight Caribbean cruise, including a visit to the Disney Fantasy in Cape Canaveral, Florida,” she told Funfare in an exclusive interview during a recent trip to Palawan where she shot two episodes for her ABS-CBN show Kris Reali-tv. “I booked our trip as early as October last year.”
From Manila, they will fly to L.A. and rest overnight, and take the 8 a.m. flight the next day, arriving at 4 p.m. in Florida. The cruise starts the next day. Kris’ entourage also includes the kids’ two nannies and her assistant Alvin.
Mother and sons have been traveling since Kris and ex-husband James Yap separated in 2010 (their marriage was annulled early this year).
“Joshua and Bimby always go with me to Bangkok for my commercial shoots. We’ve been to Hong Kong three times, Japan once and a few times in New York,” said Kris, adding that she and James have remained friends. “We’re in good terms, in fairness. Loving kami ni James kasi pumasok ang team nila sa finals kaya malaki ang kinontribute niya sa birthday party ni Bimby. James is welcome to come to the house anytime… and he does. Twice a week pumupunta siya.”
Noted for giving (sometimes unsolicited) suggestions to friends building a house, as James is doing at an upscale subdivision, Kris is mum this time, giving not even little tips on how the kitchen or the sala or any part of the house should be done (feng shuiguided, you know).
“Wala nang pakialamanan,” she stressed. “We’re okay as we are.”
Although he has been vehemently denying it, James is being linked to Isabel Oli, saying they’re “only friends” because they are both Bisaya. What about Kris? Now that she, like James, is (legally) free again, is she opening her doors to suitors (Sen. Chiz Escudero not among them, the crazy rumor withstanding)? Kris herself has been linked to a few guys, includ- ing Diether Ocampo and Makati Mayor Junjun Binay, both of whom she considered as “only friends.”
“Ayoko na!” she shrugged. “I’m done with love. Totoo talaga, I’m done with love. Two men in my life are enough… Joshua and Bimby.”
Since she and James are (better) friends (than a couple), do they perhaps confide in each other about affairs of the heart and ask each other’s opinions about whoever they may be keeping an eye on?
“Hindi ako nakikialam sa love life niya not because I don’t care because I do care that he ends up with some- body who will be good to our sons. My sons will have a relationship with (whoever) his girlfriend may be, so it’s important that she’s of good character. ‘Yun lang ‘yon.”
Asked how she would rate herself as a mother, Kris said, “More than 10.” And as a former wife? “Hmmmmm, huwag na lang, Kaya nga ‘former,’ eh!”
