Everything’s better in digital

-

From point-and-shoot cameras to DSLRs, bill payments to food delivery services, music downloading to app purchasing Ð all these things have been digitized to make peopleÕs lives easier and more convenient. The same goes with cable TV.

Skycable introduced digital cable TV services in the Philippines in 2009, allowing subscribers to enjoy clear and world-class entertainment in the comforts of their own home through the Skycable Digibox. This digitization effort paved the way for subscribers to experience more vibrant, crisp and clear channels, as well as a host of features that make cable viewing so much more convenient and enjoyable Ñ a privilege that 95 percent of Skycable subscribers already enjoy today. These features include the ability to know the program schedules for the next seven days, the ability to restrict children from accessing channels with inappropriate content and the ability to add channels to oneÕs basic cable plan, resulting to a cable subscription package tailor-Þtted to the family viewing preferences and budget.

ÒDigital is now the world standard for cable TV service,Ó says Alan Supnet, SkycableÕs head of marketing. ÒWe are preparing to fully transition all our cable channels to the digital platform in order free up channel capacity. Doing this allows us to bring to our subscribers more and better digital offerings in the future. From the subscribersÕ perspective, they simply get to enjoy more channels by having the Digibox. They wonÕt miss out on their favourite shows and they are able to fully maximize the channel inclusions in their cable package.Ó

In Metro Manila, CAMANAVA, Rizal, Cavite and selected areas in Laguna and Bulacan, the Þrst batch of channels transitioning to SkycableÕs digital platform for this year include MYX (ch.23), CNN (ch. 28), BeTV (ch. 35), National Geographic (ch.41), AXN (ch. 49), Star Movies (ch. 55), Lifestyle Network (ch.23) and Velvet (ch. 23), which will become inaccessible to subscribers without the SKYcable Digibox starting Feb 1.
