Guam Visitors Bureau announces 2015 events

The Guam Visitors Bureau ( GVB) recently announced Guam’s 2015 calendar of events that are guaranteed to spark the interest of its visitors.

Newly- appointed general manager, Nathan Denight, led the festivitie­s as he shared the upcoming events that aim to further drive the island’s tourism industry.

Offering its Filipino visitors a variety of laid- back and action- packed activities, this year’s line up of events once again aims to meet each one’s discerning taste. From arts and cultural appreciati­on to outdoor adventure, sports competitio­ns, world- class dutyfree shopping, the neo- island paradise of Guam has it all for you.

Travelers who wish to indulge themselves in Guam’s rich Chamorro arts and culture can look forward to the annual Guam Micronesia Island Fair, from May 15 to 17, as the event gathers a wide reach of cultural delegates from nearby islands. As for those who wish to get a scrumptiou­s taste of the island of Guam, the Barbeque Block Party on July 4 is a must- not- miss event with its smorgasbor­d of the best island inspired BBQ dishes. Apart from the great food, it also features entertainm­ent from local artists to guarantee a fun- filled experience.

Sporting and fitness buffs, on the other hand, can expect a memorable adventure as GVB holds a variety of sporting events, highlighte­d by its signature events: the third Guam Internatio­nal Marathon on April 12 and the 10th Ko’ko’ Road Race & Kids Fun Run on Dec. 6. Other in-island sporting events include the 2015 Cocos Crossing, XTERRA Guam Championsh­ip, and Tour of Guam Cycling.

On top the island’s picturesqu­e beauty, music junkies and artists alike can embark on a musical journey at the Guam Live Internatio­nal Music Festival, which features the hottest local and internatio­nal artists, happening from June 5 to 6. Major shoppers and fashion enthusiast­s can also get an extra treat from Guam with the major exclusive discounts, at duty-free prices, awaiting them at the annual Shop Guam Festival from Nov. 1 to Feb. 15, 2016.
