Valley steps up WGAP drive at home

The Valley ladies exploited their working knowledge of the rolling Antipolo layout, chalking up a victory in Class A and churning out a third place finish in Class B to bolster their drive after five legs of the Champion Infinity WGAP 2015 Circuit at the Valley Golf Club recently.

Inez Del Rosario and Jocelyn Sevilla came away with a pair of 41 Stableford points while Cielo Fregil and Belinda Del Rosario tossed in 37 and 33 points, respective­ly, as the host club pooled a 152 and beat Camp Aguinaldo by 12 in the premier class of the circuit organized by Women’s Golf Associatio­n of the Philippine­s and presented by Champion Infinity.

Arvi Lobangco fired 38 points to win the individual honors and lead Aguinaldo’s 140 total which included a 35 from Mabel Salivio, a 34 from Lizbeth Alcantara and a 33 from Josie Untal, while Sta. Elena, led by Carmela Lee’s 36, Rio Co’s 32, Nancy Ortiga’s 31 and Divina Nemec’s 30, placed third with a 129 followed by Forest Hills (126), Alabang (121), Orchard (120) and Villamor (119).

Sta. Elena also boosted its own drive by ruling Class B, assembling a 133 to edge Tagaytay (132) by one with Valley finishing third with a 130. Canlubang, led by individual winner Recy Barrientos’ 38 points, ended up fourth at 129 followed by Aguinaldo (128), Forest Hills (125), Alabang (124), Eagle Ridge (123), Villamor (117) and Orchard (109).

Jennifer Ligones shot a 35, Nini Masigan and Misako Ogihara scored identical 33s and Marilen Bantug added a 32 for Sta. Elena while Tagaytay drew 36 points from Bernadette Wong and three 32s from Virginia Bote, Mely Leyeza and Mabek Kawsek.

Sylvia Carpio made a 36, Dina De Jesus shot a 33, Michelle Del Rosario had a 32 and Ma. Rosalina Galang added a 29 for Valley in the event sponsored by Shell Philippine­s, Metro Pacific, Golf Depot, Ping and De La Salle Hospital.
