Las Piñas Mayor Vergel Nene Aguilar assured yesterday the 1,020 new graduates from various vocational and technical courses at Las Piñas City Manpower Training Center of assistance for employment and livelihood opportunities.

The graduates, members of Batch 129A attended daily sessions from January to June, while batch 130 attended daily sessions from April to June this year.

The graduation rites of Batch 129A and 130 held recently at Verdant Covered Court Pamplona III was attended by Mayor Nene and Mrs. Mel Aguilar, Rep. Mark Villar, VM Louie Bustamante and City Councilors together with training directress Anna Aguilar-Dimagula.

Aguilar said the graduates who enjoyed free training in various courses will soon find employment or start their own home-based business to augment their family income.

Noting the bigger demand for skilled workers overseas, Aguilar said graduates of the center will have the opportunity to apply for work abroad.

He said many industries are offering employment to graduates with special technical vocational skills.

The Manpower Training Center offers courses in automotive servicing, commercial cooking, consumer electronics, food and beverages services, hairdressing, massage therapy, personal computer operations, refrigeration and aircon servicing, shielded metal arc welding, industrial electricity, cellphone repair, housekeeping and travel services.

Aguilar said out-of-school youth and unemployed adults benefit from free training provided by the training center which was awarded by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) as one of the Most Outstanding Skills Training Centers in the country.
