Aside from emergency kits, what will you bring with you in an earthquake?

- By MONS ROMULO

These past few months, we have been constantly reminded to prepare emergency essentials in case of an earthquake, and some of the suggested things to include are flashlights, canned goods, a whistle, water, and a first-aid kit.

Apart from our loved ones, of course, there are things we simply need to take along with us no matter where we go.

Read on as some notable personalities share with us their must-bring things in an emergency.

Architect Ramon Antonio

I must bring my complete trust and confidence in our Lord. My rosary that I carry always too. May this confidence from the Lord guide me as well as others who may be with me at this crucial time to safety. Then my silent prayer — “With God on our side, who can be against us?”

Atty. Francis N. Tolentino, chairman, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority

I will bring the following with me: personal identification, blood type details, names and addresses of immediate family members; and a prayer book.

San Juan City Vice Mayor Francis Zamora

Aside from emergency pack essentials, what you should bring with you in case of an earthquake are your presence of mind, calmness and composure.

Beauty Gonzalez, actress

My Doc Martens so I can run up and down the rubble while searching for survivors and supplies.

Isabel Oli, actress

You’ll have to bring whatever documents or family mementos that are irreplaceable. You’ll never know if you’ll be able to set foot in your house again, so it’s always better to have those papers intact. It’d also break my heart to leave my dog behind, so wherever I go, he goes too!

Billy Crawford, singer/host

I’ll make sure I have my important personal documents with me, like my licenses, passports and things that are hard to replace. Although it’s hard to tell if we can drive during that time, I’d like to get an SUV all ready as a getaway vehicle loaded with food, clothes, water and toiletries, enough to last for a week.

Miley Gono Atienza, food and lifestyle blogger

Our emergency pack already has my external hard drive where I stored all my digital memories with loved ones. Apart from that, I would bring my iPad which is full of my son’s games. I think this would be helpful in distracting and keeping my two-yearold in the midst of a traumatic and chaotic situation.

Mari Jasmine, TV host, lifestyle blogger, model

I would bring my hard drive as it has so much important information on there — both personal and work-related.
