Bus catches fire on EDSA

- – Perseus Echeminada

A northbound bus caught fire as it was cruising along EDSA in Makati City yesterday morning.

The driver of the Nova Auto Transport bus (TLO-207) noticed smoke coming out of the vehicle’s front at around 9 a.m. He used a fire extinguisher but failed to put out the flames.

As the driver tried to douse the fire, the 55 passengers scrambled out of the bus, some climbing though the vehicle’s windows.

A fire truck crew put the blaze under control around 30 minutes later.

No one was injured but the fire caused a traffic buildup along EDSA’s northbound lane.

The fire, according to initial reports, may have been caused by faulty electrical wiring.
