Sixty-seven differently-abled Filipino athletes are currently competing in 10 of 15 sports, all going all-out for medals in the eighth ASEAN Para Games held for the first time in Singapore.

The contingent, headed by Philippine Sports Association for the Differently-Abled-National Paralympic Committee president Mike Barredo and chief of mission Ral Rosario, is backed by Herbalife Philippines as the official nutrition sponsor of the PhilSPADA-NPC, the national sports association of Para athletes recognized by the International Olympic Committee.

“Herbalife Philippines has been actively supporting athletes in the triathlon community, but this is the first time that we are partnering with a national sports association, and Para athletes at that,” said Bong Valenzuela, country manager of Herbalife Philippines during the recent send-off also graced by Barredo and Rosario.

Valenzuela added that Herbalife’s backing is in line with the company’s vision of “changing people’s lives through good nutrition and encouraging healthy active lifestyle.”

“We recognize that athletes have special nutritional needs and we are glad to be able to address this need of delegation bound for Singapore. We hope that through this partnership, they continue to pursue excellence and remain an inspiration to everyone,” said Valenzuela.

During the contract-signing, send-off rites, Herbalife gave each member of the Phl delegation a package which contains Herbalife products, apparel, bags and water bottles which they can use during the competition.
