Thicker eyebrows are more youthful

DEAR LUCY,

I have thick eyebrows and a faint mustache. I also do not know how to wear a mid-length black skirt. I am used to skinny cuts and short skirts.

Please maintain your thick eyebrows. Just have them shaped professionally (I

have mine done at Hairworks Salon). Don’t opt for a very thin line, it will add years to your face. Thicker eyebrows are always more youthful.

As for the fine hair on your upper lip, you may have it threaded, or you can do laser treatments. The former will require maintenance while the latter will have more lasting results in the long run.

A mid-length black skirt is a classic. You can wear it with a soft blouse and kitten heels or low-heeled pumps. Bright lips. Nice hair. It’s okay to be partial to skinny cuts and short skirts but try to wear something else sometimes. You would not want to look the same all the time. Besides, some occasions will deem short skirts improper, so it is always good to have options available. LUCY

THE RIGHT LIPPIES FROM OFFICE TO PARTIES

DEAR RISSA,

What’s a good lipstick color that’s office-appropriate but will work even for dinners and parties? IRA

Since you’re looking for a lipstick good for officewear, I suggest you avoid bright colors. These tend to be distracting. Choose a shade that will lend you authority and give you femininity at the same time. Red may be powerful, but it can also make you seem unapproachable. Neutrals in the family of pinks and berries are a good choice. Avoid browns because they can make you look dreary and tired — that’s the last thing you want in the workplace. I personally like pinkish nudes, mauves or peachy nudes because they’re feminine yet command attention without being distracting. They take you from day to night because they’re office-appropriate yet will complement a smoky eye for nights out and parties.

Take your look up a notch and go for multi-tasking products. They allow you to get the look without breaking the bank and since they work twice as hard, they’re products worth investing in. Try a lip and cheek mousse that delivers velvety color on both your lips and cheeks. The great thing about it is you just need one handy product throughout the day to take you from day to night. With a double-duty product like this, all you need is your fingers to add color and touch up your look. It’s very convenient to look pretty even without a brush. Head over to Beauty Bar to find multi-tasking makeup like this.
