Australian ambassador lauds SEARCA

Newly installed Ambassador of Australia Amanda Gorely commended the Philippine Government-hosted South- east Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agricultur­e (SEARCA) based in the University of the Philippine­s Los Baños (UPLB) on her visit to the center last Jan. 21. She commended SEARCA, headed by Gil Saguiguit Jr. who is now on his third three-year term, for its research and capacity building programs in the Philippine­s and other countries in Southeast Asia and expressed her support to SEARCA as it renews its partnershi­ps with Australian research and education institutio­ns.

. She noted the Center’s plan to establish the Southeast Asian Agri Museum and Learning Center, which is intended to promote the importance of agricultur­e, its centrality to people’s lives and its attendant challenges, particular­ly among the youth.
