GMA Network names 2016 Excellence awardee
From among a crop of candidates in the 2016 GMA Network Excellence Award ( GNEA), Far Eastern University ( FEU) alumna Ronalyn Pordan was hailed as this year’s winner in the network’s search for outstanding student achievers.
GMA Network chairman and CEO lawyer Felipe Gozon led the awarding ceremonies held last July 22 at the GMA Network Center. Lawyer Gozon together with GMA VP for Corporate Affairs and Communications Angela Javier Cruz awarded Pordan with a trophy and P50,000 cash.
This year’s panel of judges included GMA First VP for Public Affairs Nessa Valdellon, Yes-Pinoy Foundation chairman Dingdong Dantes III and GNEA lead advocate Benjamin Alves.
Pordan graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from FEU, and was also an awardee of the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines-NCR. She is the founder of the MariKit Movement, an organization which empowers women by teaching them how to protect themselves with the aid of educational sessions and self- defense trainings.
In spite of besting the six other finalists, she hopes to work with them in creating a positive impact on the society. “I would just like us to become allies. We are not competitors, but we should be allies for change in society,” said the latest addition to the network’s roster of excellence awardees.
