Cop kills bus robber in Pasay

A bus robber was killed after he reportedly traded shots with a police officer in Pasay City before noon yesterday.

The robbery happened in a Metrolane bus plying the Valenzuela-NAIA route, according to a report reaching the Southern Police District (SPD).

Three unidentified men staged the heist as the bus reached the vicinity of Gil Puyat Avenue and F.B. Harrison street. Police said the robbers were armed with handguns and a grenade.

As the bus reached Leveriza street, the passengers alerted Police Officer 1 Rey Bautista as the robbers were getting off the bus.

Bautista responded and the robbers shot at him as they ran from the bus, the SPD said.

During the shootout, one of the robbers was killed while the other two escaped.

Police said a .38 caliber revolver, a hand grenade and most of the passengers’ valuables were recovered from the slain robber.
