Art and sole
Art enables fashion, allowing us to convey thoughts and emotions,” muses Aldo Philippines marketing manager Alexa Fortun, setting the tone for the brand’s fall 2016 collection reveal.
The women’s collection is categorized into three stories — Forward-thinking, For Now and Get Busy — all of which feature sleek, classic shapes in neutral hues. Pointy-toe flats are daytime date-ready with a lace detail. The single-strap stiletto sandal, a modern classic in recent months, gets an update in camel-hued suede, also the same material used in their lowheel ankle boots. Leather sneakers come in the quintessential all-white but also in gold. Go back to the ‘90s with platform wedge sandals.
The men’s collection — divided into Front-runners, Business Class, and Ivy League — features casual athletic styles as well as a more laidback take on dress shoes but still with polished details.
Both the women’s and men’s collections are classic in style and color, making Aldo’s fall 2016 collection the perfect canvas for whatever look you’re going for.
Aldo encourages customization, as seen in their #ARTANDSOLES movement, where the collection was first previewed. MDF Italia on Bonifacio High Street was transformed into an art gallery, setting the mood for inspiration and customization to exhibit Aldo’s interpretation of the top trends of fall 2016. Artist Soleil Ignacio’s customized artwork was inspired by the collection. Her fashion and beauty illustrations will give you ideas on how to think outside the box and turn your pair into your own work of art.
