Shell Solaris One office switches to Philips LED

-

Shell Business Operations (SBO) division recently partnered with lighting solutions company Philips for its shift to LED lighting. The move was part of the energy giant’s drive to improve the Solaris One facilities with more costfriendly and sustainable solutions.

Shell’s local management was pressed to seek out options that not only amounted to higher monthly power savings, but also to lower maintenance costs and better working conditions; several issues that Philips consciously addresses with its new LED lighting solutions.

“We definitely understand where they’re coming from,” said Jagannathan Srinivasan, general manager of Philips Lighting in the Philippines. “Given Philips’ own dedication to operational efficiency and to increased productivity in the workplace, we know just what the Solaris One office needs in terms of lighting solutions. We’re definitely eager to help.”

Health and safety were also major driving factors in the initial push for SBO’s switch to LED lights, a concern that SBO facilities manager Christian Tagros hopes to enhance and to maintain with this turn of events.

“Switching to Philips LED was driven by our safety standard that benefits the staff and values the environment through lower energy consumption of our Solaris One SBO office,” Targos said.

“Lighting is very important to Shell as part of our health, safety, security, and the environment program or HSSE,” he said. “The old lighting system unfortunately exposed our contractors and business partners to certain risks and dangers. But with the new LED lighting, this hazard has been remarkably minimized.”

The transition of Solaris One office to LED lighting did not come without difficulties. The building operates 24/7— an arrangement that initially made the installation process challenging.

“The production areas and meeting rooms are now equipped with CoreLine LED Troffers, Smart DALI Dimmer Switches, and Occuswitch DALI Sensors,” Tagros adds. The hallways have also been fitted with Smart LED Battens, and GreenSspace Downlights while the restrooms and some meeting rooms now make use of Master LED MR16s. With this, Philips has given a vibrant and a more productive workplace for Shell Solaris One employees.

SBO’s management proudly reports that with LED lightings solutions, their energy expenses have significantly reduced. Tagros explains, “With the newly installed LED lighting system in SBO Manila office, everything feels safer and more cost- effective than before. Our employees are eager to work and they are able to produce better outputs.”
