Total in Endurance Racing
Leading in Technological Excellence
Involved
in Formula 1 for over 40 years and several Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) World Championships, the Total Group remains at the forefront of performance and technological innovation. With 45 years of R&D and experience in the area of motor racing, Total will once again be showcasing its mastery of high quality and technical performance products during the 2016 FIA World Endurance Championship season - the fifth edition of the FIA World Endurance Championship auto racing series co-organised by the FIA and the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO).
Setting the bar high
Total will be present during the WEC season on several fronts, assisting a number of partners through its expertise and technology. All three V8 Vantage GTE cars entered by Aston Martin Racing in this year’s WEC will race with Total lubricants and, for the first time outside of Formula 1, Total will provide a mobile laboratory and technical support with a dedicated engineer present at each WEC race event.
Total will also be present in the prototypes category. As the historical partner of Alpine, Elf has been supporting the return of the French brand in competition; this year, the partnership takes an additional dimension with the involvement of a second car in LMP2 (the second division of the prototypes category). Already winner of a race during the last season, the Alpine team is running again this season for the title.
The superior technology developed by Total to ensure the outstanding performance of its motorsports partners are also applied to its consumers, with products such as Total Excellium fuels and Total Quartz lubricants that lower fuel consumption and engine wear and tear.
Total innovation at the 24 Le Mans: the ‘Grand Prix of Endurance and Efficiency’
The 84th 24 Hours of Le Mans will be an automobile endurance event held on 15 to 19 June 2016 at the Circuit de la Sarthe, Le Mans, France. As part of the FIA World Endurance championship, the 24 Hours of Le Mans is one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious automobile races in the world.
Total supports Aston Martin in its conquest for the World title during the 24 hours of Le Mans by providing technical support at each event and a laboratory for analysis. Total and Aston Martin will also explore options for further opportunities to utilize the energy supplier’s Total Excellium fuel products.
Alongside these commitments, the Total Group will continue its association with the Asian Le Mans Series. For the fourth consecutive year, Total will be the partner of this developing championship that exports to Asia the values of endurance.
