10 drug suspects slain in MM

At least nine suspected drug pushers and users were killed in Camanava, Manila and Mandaluyon­g since Thursday night.

Fernando Lorenzo, 34, and his partner Ronalyn Sabala, 23, were having dinner in their house on Mabini street in Barangay Concepcion, Malabon at around 10 p.m. when a masked man barged in and shot them.

Lorenzo died at the scene while Sabala was pronounced dead on arrival at the Pagamutang Bayan ng Malabon.

Paolo Lorenzo, a brother of the victim, said he had been warning his brother about his illegal activities but to no avail.

The STAR the victims were among the drug suspects who surrendere­d last week.

In Navotas, Jonathan Lazaro, 43, was standing at a vacant lot beside his house on Roldan street in Barangay Tangos at around 10:30 p.m. when two men shot him repeatedly. He died at the scene.

At about 2 a.m. yesterday, Rodzon Enriquez was killed when he reportedly shot it out with lawmen during a drug sting in Market 3 in Barangay North Bay Boulevard North.

City police chief Senior Superinten­dent Dante Novicio said police officers recovered two sachets of shabu and a .38 caliber pistol from Enriquez.

In Caloocan, two unidentifi­ed men on a motorcycle shot Flaviano Cabodbod in 1001 Compound on Gen. San Miguel street in Barangay 4.

Barangay 4 chairperso­n Maricel Tolentino told probers the victim was a known pusher in the area.

In Manila, at least four suspects were killed Thursday night.

Gabriel Garcia, alias Baba, 24, and Tonton Balasa, 28, were killed when they reportedly shot it out with police officers who staged a raid on a house where they were having a pot session at around 5: 30 p. m. Thursday, said Police Officer 3 Bernardo Cayabyab.

Garcia was included in the Manila Police District’s drug watchlist. Their companion, Gerald Garcia, 22, was allegedly caught with a sachet of shabu.

At past 8 p.m. Thursday, six men on three motorcycle­s shot Oscar Abella, 55, and a certain Aljit while they talking along Ilustre street in Sta. Cruz.

A note identifyin­g Abella and Aljit as pushers and addicts who use their homes as drug dens was found in the left hand of one of the victims.

In Mandaluyon­g City, an alleged pusher was shot dead yesterday as he was about to pull the pin of a grenade during a drug bust.

The suspect, identified only as Jonathan, died at the scene from three gunshots to the body, said Senior Superinten­dent Romulo Sapitula, director of the Eastern Police District.

Sapitula said he ordered the neutraliza­tion of Jonathan, reported to be the source of illegal drugs in Barangay Addition Hills.

A team of police officers arranged to buy a sachet of shabu for P300 at Jonathan’s house at around 2 a.m.

However, while Jonathan was about to hand over the shabu, he apparently realized it was a sting and grabbed a hand grenade from under his bed, Sapitula said.

Jonathan and the undercover police officer were grappling for possession of the grenade when other police officers shot at the suspect thrice.

Cop found dead

Meanwhile, Police Officer 1 Allen Jaravata’s body was found at a vacant lot along Waling- Waling Extension in Barangay 178, Caloocan City at around 6 a.m. yesterday.

Jaravata, reportedly assigned at the Eastern Police District and a resident of Barangay 177, was found with his face wrapped in a plastic sheet and a nylon cord looped around his neck. His head bore several wounds that indicated he was tortured, police said.

Police officers recovered a sachet of shabu in his underwear.

7 nabbed in QC

At least seven drug suspects were arrested in separate police operations in Quezon City on Thursday.

Rizaldy Martinez, 33, and Liza Baroga, 39, were reportedly caught in a pot session in a house along Sulu street in Barangay Tandang Sora at around 7:30 a.m.

Police officers recovered drug parapherna­lia but no illegal drugs from the suspects.

Fedireco Malinao,29; Prince William Pierce, 30, and Jon-jon Caldo, 34, were reportedly caught using illegal drugs by police officers on patrol along Joshua street in Barangay Kaligayaha­n at around 11 a.m.

Police officers recovered marijuana leaves and a disposable lighter from the suspects.

Julius Pureza was arrested after police officers saw him carrying a knife along Everlastin­g street in Barangay Payatas. They frisked him and reportedly found a sachet of shabu on his person.

Jerson Buyain, 35, was arrested during an anti- crime drive in Barangay North Fairview at around 11:30 a.m.

Police officers recovered drug parapherna­lia with traces of shabu from Buyain.
