- By MICHAEL PUNONGBAYAN

The Office of the Ombudsman has found probable cause to file criminal charges against a former municipal mayor of Lanao del Norte over unliquidated cash advances.

Former Pantar mayor Norlainie Limbona will be indicted for graft and violation of the Government Auditing Code, the anti-graft court said yesterday.

Municipal accountant Paganaibae Macaumbos and treasurer Orac Racmat will be included in the charge sheet.

The respondents were found to have approved and facilitated cash advances totaling P11.8 million even if prior disbursements amounting to P2.3 million had not been liquidated.

Graft probers said cash advances from January to June 2008 were drawn with no specific purpose in violation of Commission on Audit Circular 97-002.
