Acer Phl eyes bigger share in projector market

Acer Philippine­s Inc. is looking to grow its share in the country’s projector market amid rising demand for the product.

Acer Philippine­s managing director Manuel Wong told reporters during the launch of the firm’s new projectors, the company wants to increase its share in the local projector market.

The company currently accounts for 20 percent of the market, making it the number one provider of projectors in the country.

“We think we can continue to grow further. We have potential to grow further and the demand is still growing well,” Wong said.

As the Philippine economy is growing, he said the company hopes to benefit by catering to the growing demand for projectors.

Faith Kuo, business manager for projectors at Acer said there is demand for projectors particular­ly from businesses and schools.

Citing data from Internatio­nal Data Corp. or (IDC), Kuo said the academe comprises about 54 percent of the demand, while small and medium businesses account for 21 percent.

Among the new projectors unveiled by Acer are ES- 12 and X117H which both feature Digital Light Processing or technology using a digital micromirro­r device to produce better quality image.

The Acer ES-12 which has a standard resolution of 800 x 600, with the option to be maximized to 1920 x 1200, is available at P18,999.

Meanwhile, the Acer X117H which has the same baseline features of the ES-12 but provides more brightness, retails for P22,990.
