Superal moves up to 47th despite 74

-

Princess Superal continued to struggle and turned in a second straight two-over 74 Saturday but improved to joint 47th heading to the final round of the LPGA and Symetra Tour Qualifying School- Stage II at the Plantation Golf and Country Club in Venice, Florida.

Amateur Regan de Guzman also bounced back with a 73 to move to a share of 54th while Mia Piccio hung on to joint 67th despite a second 76 in another tough day at the par-72 Panther layout.

Superal failed to get her iron game and putting going for the third straight day, hitting one birdie against three missed green bogeys. But her 37-37 card and a 54-hole total of 221 lifted her from 62nd to a share of 47th, well within the top 80 plus ties that will advance to the Final Stage at the LPGA International, also in Florida, in December.

De Guzman also bolstered her drive with three birdies at the back, also at Panther, against two bogeys and a double-bogey as she saved a 73 and a 222 for a share of 54th.

Piccio blew a two-birdie feat in the first three holes with four bogeys and a doublebogey in the next 12. She gunned down another birdie on the 16th but dropped another stroke at the tough finishing hole for a 40 and a 76.

But she still stood at joint 67th as majority of the 193 field also sputtered in demanding condition at the tougher Panther layout, making the final round a survival of the fittest with 28 players trailing the 83rd group with no more than three.

Norwegian Marianne Skarpnod not only secured her place in the Final Stage with a 69206 but also for the low medal honors with a five-shot lead over American Maia Schechter (75-211).
