SEC-accredited seminar on corporate governance
To help board directors and key officers of public and publicly-listed firms align themselves with global standard on effective governance, the Center for Global Best Practices (CGBP) will conduct an SEC-accredited seminar titled, “Board Effectiveness Best Practices” on Nov. 10 at the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel, Mandaluyong City.
The one-day special corporate governance program is designed to address two important issues: ( 1) to provide capacity building for board directors by presenting to them the global best practices in board effectiveness drawn from the most updated global research of the largest accounting firm in the world – PriceWaterhouse Coopers / Isla Lipana to be presented by former PWC chairperson Judith Lopez. She will also share her valuable insights and experiences being a board director of many companies across various industries; (2) to help all board directors comply with SEC- mandated requirement for them to attend a corporate governance seminar yearly.
All board directors of public and publicly-listed companies must attend a corporate governance seminar once a year to be eligible for election/ reelection in the board of a corporation.
The morning session will feature Jonathan Ravelas, chief market strategist of BDO. He will handle the foundational topics on basic corporate governance, updates on new regulations and a 30 minutes year- end economic briefing relevant to board directors.
