Run for breast cancer

-

Breast cancer affects not only the women who have it, but also their families and friends. Entire families and communities are thus gathering to help raise awareness for breast cancer in the Pink Run, set on Oct. 30, Sunday, starting at 5 a.m. at Festival Mall in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.

Now on its sixth edition and organized in partnership with Project Pink and the Philippine Society of General Surgeons, the Pink Run aims to raise awareness for breast cancer and promote early detection among Filipinas. The run also aims to raise funds for Unity in Pink and its partner organizations: ICanServe Foundation, Stage Zero by Project Pink, and the Asian Hospital Charities.

Registration fees are P500 for 3K, P600 for 5K, P700 for 10K, and P800 for 16K. The race kit includes a singlet, a race bib, and an RFID unit. There will also be a raffle and prizes for the top three winners per category.

The Pink Run is part of the festivities for Unity in Pink, the yearly breast cancer awareness campaign of Filinvest City. Running the entire month of October and now in its fourth year, Unity in Pink will feature discounts, wellness activities, breast cancer awareness talks, free consultations, and other activities for women to promote health. The yearly campaign was lauded with a Silver Anvil Award in the Exhibits and Special Events category, as well as another Silver Award for the External Consumers, Communities, Special Interest/Advocacy Groups category at the 51st Anvil Awards held in 2015.

Festival Mall is a FilinvestLifemall. As its new branding and tagline goes, “it’s where the city’s heart beats.” It is the only mall with five anchor stores: Shopwise Supercenter, SaveMore, Robinsons Department Store, Ace Hardware, and Handyman. It has over 700 shops, a total of 2,300 multi-level parking slots, various food outlets, and indoor amusement rides.
