APHCA’s Hair Olympics opens today
The Asia Pacific Hairdressers & Cosmetologists Association (APHCA) holds its 20th Hair Olympics today with Senators Bam Aquino and Cynthia Villar, former First Lady Ming Ramos, SM’s Hans Sy, Sri Lankan Ambassador Aruni Ranaraja, and Thai Ambassador Thanatip Upatising as guests of honor. Seeing action are the country’s best hairdressers and cosmetologists battling it out with the best of Asia Pacific at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia.
After winning national selection events held in their respective countries, the competitors are ready to outdo themselves during the show entitled “Beauty Showdown in Manila.” They will compete in the following categories: men’s cut & blow dry, avant-garde color, evening party and bridal make-up; the total look & nail art competition and evening party hairstyle.
Hair and makeup techniques, originality, and creativity are among the criteria for the judges composed of experts from the participating delegations.
Attractive prizes await the winners from the different categories plus a trip to Hong Kong for the grand champion.
The beauty event will also feature seminars and workshops and a trade fair of over 50 booths featuring local and international beauty items from participating APHCA member countries plus lots of freebies from generous sponsors.
Top stylists from China, Hong Kong, and Macau will present the latest cuts for men and women in a special show while GMA 7 artist Alden Richards will do a special number.
The 20th Hair Olympics is supported by the Department of Tourism (DOT) through the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB), Zen Institute, Air Asia, Skin Care Formula by Dr. Alvin, Philbeauty, Selective Professional, Pagcor, Travelpros, and GMA 7.
