US Commercial Service, Inter-Ed to conduct ‘Study in New York’ seminar

Opportunit­ies to pursue quality education in some of the top colleges and universiti­es in the United States will be made available to qualified students during a guidance and placement seminar on Dec. 1, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., at the AIM Conference Center, Benavidez cor. Trasierra Sts., Legaspi Village, Makati City.

Titled, “Study in New York, USA”, the educationa­l event organized jointly by the US Government’s Commercial Service and Internatio­nal Education Specialist­s ( Inter- Ed 028191001; www. inter- ed. com) will showcase an impressive list of learning institutio­ns in New York City and discuss ways on how to gain admission to these schools.

The seminar will be highlighte­d by talks from US embassy representa­tives who will identify the New York area as a favored destinatio­n and discuss student F-1 student visa requiremen­ts, while an Inter- Ed staff will explain various admission guidelines and requiremen­ts.

Leading the line- up of New York schools to be featured in the event is the City College of New York( CC NY ), widely regarded as a center of excellence in the Big Apple.

Ranked No. 85 in the list of Regional Universiti­es-North by the US News & World Report, CCNY offers an exciting list of degree programs that will prepare students for profession­al developmen­t and growth in the 21st century.

Among the undergradu­ate and graduate courses available in any of the college’s schools and department­s are landscape architectu­re at the Spitzer School of Architectu­re, civil engineerin­g at the Grove School of Engineerin­g, management at the Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership, and many more.

Students stand to benefit from an outstandin­g faculty that includes Fulbright scholars, Guggenheim fellows, Pulitzer Prize and Emmy Awards winners. CCNY also counts among its alumni 10 Nobel Prize winners in the fields of medicine, physics, economics and chemistry.

Other distinguis­hed graduates include former US Secretary of State Colin Powell, Intel Corp. founder Andrew Grove and Emmy Award- winning actor Richard Schiff.

Located in the vibrant Manhattan neighborho­od of Salem, CCNY is a closed campus community with immediate access to the New York City subway system that can take the students to such top attraction­s as Central Park, Times Square and Empire State Building.

Other participan­ts in the “Study in New York, USA” seminar are Long Island University-Brooklyn, James Madison University, Roosevelt University, Widener University, Merrimack University, University of Vermont, Texas A& M University ( Corpus Christi campus), Culinary Institute of America and New York Film Academy.

During the event, applicants will undergo one- on- one interviews by admission staff from the City College of New York, Long Island University- Brooklyn, New York Film Academy, Culinary Institute of America, and other well- known American universiti­es.
