Blends have more fun

-

Hennessy Very Special (V.S), the world’s No. 1 Cognac, announces the latest edition of its Very Special Limited Edition series with a new bottle design created by American tattoo artist Scott Campbell. The new bottle further Hennessy’s legacy and dedication to the art of “blending,” overlapping two very different, very old traditions: tattoo artistry and Cognac-making. Over the past few years, Hennessy has collaborated with groundbreaking artists such as Kaws, Futura, Os Gemeos, Shepard Fairey and Ryan McGinness to create a new Hennessy Very Special Limited Edition bottle every year.

Campbell owns the legendary Saved Tattoo parlor in Brooklyn, NY, boasting a client list spanning New York’s art, design and fashion elite. He’s a pioneer and innovator, pushing the boundaries of his craft in mediums other than skin. Using mediums as different as canvases, wood panels, hundred dollar bills, ostrich egg shells and even police cars, Campbell loves to lift some of the most iconic imagery and narratives of tattooing and use them in different contexts in a playful way: “It’s really satisfying to be able to take some of the superstitions, the magic and the emotions that are wrapped up in tattoo symbolism and to communicate them through other mediums, and watch them take entirely new and unexpected meanings.”

He describes his art for the V.S Limited Edition as a “conversation between two people, times and places. It’s two seemingly opposite worlds.” Inspired by James Hennessy’s penmanship, the artist infused the V.S label with his own sensibility, drawing a design based on a pair of wings, a universal symbol of freedom and travel that also invites the viewer to project personal understanding onto it. Decorative elements feature an intricate, highly graphic silver and black motif incorporating Hennessy Very Special’s three stars, an iconic signature of the brand that also happens to correspond with Scott Campbell’s lucky number. On the back label, Scott Campbell emblazoned the quote “Love without Hesitation” because, he observes, “I deeply believe that once you can love without hesitation, you become invincible.” Truly, a blend of artistry that only the bold can embrace. On the nose, Hennessy Very Special brings together an intense and fruity character with pleasant oaky notes. In the mouth, powerful flavors evoke grilled almonds, supported by the fresh, lively notes of the grapes. Share Hennessy Very Special to create a unique tasting moment. Savor it neat, on ice or with a mixer and reveal its character. And marvel at its newest bottle created by Scott Campbell.
