Adorable pets from the movies
Pets — they could be the usual dogs, fish, birds, rabbits and cats, that we know of or could be the more unusual ones such as iguanas and snakes. No matter what kind of animals we take in as pets, one thing for sure is that we find them lovable if not interesting. That’s why we take them home. And as for films, they have starred adorable pets that never fail to capture the hearts of viewers. Here are some lovely pets from the movies:
Garfield (2004). From comics, animated TV series to the big screen, the smart, lovable and arrogant cat has captured the hearts of viewers of all ages. Although, sometimes Garfield may seem annoying, he just always gets himself out of trouble anyway — lucky cat! Mr. Popper’s Penguin (2011). What do you hope of inheriting: Money, land, jewelry? For Thomas Popper, he gets penguins instead of the usual ones. As weird as it may seem, he accepts them and starts to actually like them. His family has become closer and he has changed into a better person. Isn’t it wonderful how pets can change us?
Beethoven (1992). Aren’t St. Bernards just adorable? They have a silly, cute face that would make you want to hug them. If you like this breed, then the film is perfect for you. It is about a family who’s adjusting to a life with a huge dog named Beethoven. Sometimes, he’s good, sometimes he’s naughty but whatever is the case, the family just loves him —and so do the viewers. Would you want to have one?
Babe (1995). A movie from way back, Babe is about a piglet who has a skill nobody has ever seen in a pig. Babe can herd! Now this may
seem impossible but one should watch the film to see it. It is a touching film about discovering one’s ability and having the confidence to show it.
Marley and Me (2008). A sure tearjerker, the movie is about a couple who decides to get a puppy to sort of find out if they are ready for a family. Who says a dog is easy to take care of? After a while, the couple will realize that all Marley needs is understanding, love and a little more time to grow up. Not for long, Marley becomes not just a pet but also a family member to them. The Secret Life of Pets (2016). Ever wonder what goes on in the mind of our pets? I bet most pet owners would love to know. The movie is about how a house dog learns to accept a street dog that his owner adopts. Alongside this, they mingle with other pets, too. Viewers
are surely taken into the world of pets and how they think. Don’t you just wish you could communicate with them?
Free Willy (1993). How about a whale for a pet? After being tasked to work at a park because of his improper behavior, Jesse finds himself liking the job anyway, especially, because he gets to meet and play with a whale. Soon, he is best friends with Willy the whale, and he will do just about anything to protect his new buddy — even if it’s to set him free.
Nine Lives (2016). A successful businessman who has been so busy to be with his family finds himself trapped in a cat’s body. Now, he lives with his family but as a pet cat. The only way out of the curse is for him to set his priorities right and value his family. What a way to learn your life lesson!
Monkey Shines (1988). While the plot of the film may be different from the rest, it is a must to be included. It is about a humanpet relationship gone bad. It all started out nice and cute. A physically-challenged man gets a smart monkey for a pet/helper as a gift. Everything seems to be in control until Ella, the monkey, becomes a little possessive and out of control. Now, this is something no one hopes for in a pet.
Lassie Come Home (1943). Of course, the list wouldn’t be complete without including Lassie, the ever smart and lovable rough collie. First shown in 1943, the film will always be remembered no matter how many generations of viewers will pass. Lassie has truly become a superstar not only in cinemas, but also in the hearts of many.
