2016 CEO EXCEL AWARDEES: THE GAME CHANGERS

These 14 names are now added to the roster of standout communicators as the International Association of Business Communicators ( IABC) Philippines honored them as the 2016 CEO EXCEL (Communication Exce l lence in Organizations) Awardees. The CEO EXCEL is the honor program of the IABC Philippines for chief executive officers, top-level executives, and organization leaders in the country. Cited for their excellent and innovative use of strategic communication in their programs and projects, the awardees have shown how it is to excel and thrive in today’s fast-paced and ever-changing economic and social environment. Adding more meaning to the event were short motivational talks by some of the winners, and also by the IABC Philippines’ very own leaders. In his opening remarks, IABC Philippines President Joe Zaldarriaga ( Assistant Vice President, Manila Electric Company) explained the challenge of leaders today.
“The new era of the communications industry is already at hand. With technological advancemen t s transforming how we interface and globalization trend radically changing the business and consumer landscape, there is a great need for communicators to keep abreast with the latest and most effective communication models and practices,” he said.
IABC Philippines Chairman Kane Errol Choa ( Integrated Corporate Communications Head, ABS- CBN) moved the audience as he detailed the qualities of a leader that overcomes these challenges.
“Unexpec ted circumstances arise and we are in dire need of leaders that can develop a balanced long- and short- term strategy, maximize growth, and bring people together through compelling communications in this ever-changing landscape of business,” he added. Likewise, the Chair of the 2016 CEO EXCEL Awards Committee and IABC Philippines Vice President, Belle Tiongco, hailed the awardees and emphasized the importance of innovation in the worlds of business and communication.
“We honor and cheer these leaders whose vision and convictions have made our life richer for all of us. Not rich in the financial sense of the word, but rich because they pushed us to change. To experiment with new technology. They encouraged us to be always informed, they challenged us to stretch our vision, and be brave, and explore new territories, especially in communication”, she said.
The ceremonies ended with a toast to the 14 awardees led by IABC Philippines Chairman Emeritus and IABC Fellow Elpi O. Cuna (Consultant, San Miguel Corporation).
