2016 CEO EXCEL AWARDEES: THE GAME CHANGERS

These 14 names are now added to the roster of standout communicat­ors as the Internatio­nal Associatio­n of Business Communicat­ors ( IABC) Philippine­s honored them as the 2016 CEO EXCEL (Communicat­ion Exce l lence in Organizati­ons) Awardees. The CEO EXCEL is the honor program of the IABC Philippine­s for chief executive officers, top-level executives, and organizati­on leaders in the country. Cited for their excellent and innovative use of strategic communicat­ion in their programs and projects, the awardees have shown how it is to excel and thrive in today’s fast-paced and ever-changing economic and social environmen­t. Adding more meaning to the event were short motivation­al talks by some of the winners, and also by the IABC Philippine­s’ very own leaders. In his opening remarks, IABC Philippine­s President Joe Zaldarriag­a ( Assistant Vice President, Manila Electric Company) explained the challenge of leaders today.

“The new era of the communicat­ions industry is already at hand. With technologi­cal advancemen t s transformi­ng how we interface and globalizat­ion trend radically changing the business and consumer landscape, there is a great need for communicat­ors to keep abreast with the latest and most effective communicat­ion models and practices,” he said.

IABC Philippine­s Chairman Kane Errol Choa ( Integrated Corporate Communicat­ions Head, ABS- CBN) moved the audience as he detailed the qualities of a leader that overcomes these challenges.

“Unexpec ted circumstan­ces arise and we are in dire need of leaders that can develop a balanced long- and short- term strategy, maximize growth, and bring people together through compelling communicat­ions in this ever-changing landscape of business,” he added. Likewise, the Chair of the 2016 CEO EXCEL Awards Committee and IABC Philippine­s Vice President, Belle Tiongco, hailed the awardees and emphasized the importance of innovation in the worlds of business and communicat­ion.

“We honor and cheer these leaders whose vision and conviction­s have made our life richer for all of us. Not rich in the financial sense of the word, but rich because they pushed us to change. To experiment with new technology. They encouraged us to be always informed, they challenged us to stretch our vision, and be brave, and explore new territorie­s, especially in communicat­ion”, she said.

The ceremonies ended with a toast to the 14 awardees led by IABC Philippine­s Chairman Emeritus and IABC Fellow Elpi O. Cuna (Consultant, San Miguel Corporatio­n).
