Philippines to become hub of int’l water tech exchange, trade

- pwwamail@

Months prior to its fourth staging of the biennial Water Philippines Conference and Exposition in Metro Manila, the Philippine Water Works Association (PWWA) with its partner United Business Media (UBM) is pulling all stops to finally establish the country as a regular hub for international water information exchanges and technology trade.

Water Philippines 2017 will be held at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City on March 22-24, with the theme, “Water and Sanitation Solutions for a Better Future.”

Engr. Roger Borja, PWWA president, said the Water Philippines event, first launched in 2011 and held every two years thereafter, is originally aimed at enhancing the development of the water and sanitation sector and further promoting industrial wastewater treatment among manufacturing industries.

Through focused technical discussions and product presentations the event also creates opportunities for trade and investment partnerships between the Philippines and the international water community.

Borja said the first three stagings of the Water Philippines events had not only accomplished these objectives but has also geared the country to be a center for exchange of technical information as well as trading post of technological products and systems that cater to both the local and international market and clientele.

This is evidenced by the growing and increasingly improving quality of international participation in both the conference and exposition sides of the event with delegates and exhibitors coming from different parts of the world including the European Union participating.

Big companies especially from Malaysia, Singapore, China, the USA and Europe have come to look forward to the staging of the Water Philippines to present and market their new products to interested local as well as international clienteles, Borja said.

As in previous staging of Water Philippines, the PWWA is handling the conference side of the event while the product and technology exhibition side is being managed by its Malaysian partner, the United Business Media (UBM) which is the leading organizer of trade exhibitions in Asia.

PWWA is expecting an even bigger attendance of delegates and participants from various parts of the country as well as other countries in the Asia-Pacific region. According to UBM, some 300 local and foreign companies have already confirmed their participation in the product and technology exposition.
