Valentine’s Day comes early at Resorts World Manila (RWM) as it presents the Golden Sounds of The Platters with Johnny “Elvis” Thompson (photo) on Feb. 10; 8 p.m. at the Newport Performing Arts Theater (NPAT).

Hailed as the foremost tribute band of the iconic American vocal group, The Golden Sounds of The Platters continue to romance audiences with their spot-on renditions of classics such as Only You, Twilight Time, Remember When, I’m Sorry, The Magic Touch, My Prayer, Smoke Gets In Your Eyes and The Great Pretender. Branson in Missouri, considered the Las Vegas of the US East Coast in terms of the city’s entertainment offerings, has voted the group three-time Vocal Group of the Year, Entertainers of the Year, and inducted the foursome in the city’s Hall of Fame.

Consistent in providing topnotch performances, Eddie Stovall Sr., Mose Edward Stovall Jr., Kim Leo Green, Frederick Berry and Deneen Davis not only engage audiences with their smooth harmonies, but also charm concert fans with their unique brand of showmanship.

Having played most of their shows in their local Branson, the Golden Sounds of The Platters have also brought their outstanding act all over Europe and Asia. This month of hearts, RWM welcomes their nostalgic sounds at its awardwinning NPAT stage together with another prized tribute artist in Johnny “Elvis” Thompson.

MTV USA and Las Vegas have named Thompson the No. 1 tribute artist of the king of rock and roll having performed in Las Vegas for 15 years before going on tour all over the world, including countries such as the Dominican Republic, Mexico, China, France, Finland and Belgium.

Now based in Asia, Thompson rejoins the Golden Sounds of The Platters to relive the magical music era of the ‘50s and the ‘60s in one unforgettable Valentine show.
