6 drug suspects slain, 30 arrested
Six suspected drug personalities were killed and 30 others were apprehended in separate incidents in Metro Manila in the past two days.
In Manila, Leo Geluz, Joshua Merced, 22, and Bimbo Merced, 37, were slain by police in an anti-drug operation in Sta. Ana.
They were pronounced dead on arrival at the Sta. Ana Hospital from gunshots to their bodies.
Anti-narcotics agents of the Manila Police District Station 6 conducted a sting against the three at the Benita Compound along Zobel Roxas street at around 3 a.m. on Tuesday.
The three allegedly opened fire when they sensed they were dealing with police.
Probers said they recovered at the scene a .38-caliber pistol, a .22-caliber revolver, 16 sachets of shabu, drug paraphernalia and the marked money.
In Marikina, suspected drug pusher Jackson Rillera was gunned down by unidentified assailants yesterday.
Superintendent Romulo Sapitula, director of the Eastern Police District, said Rillera was on the drug watchlist of Barangay Concepcion Uno.
Rillera was previously detained at the Marikina police jail for robbery.
In Mandaluyong, drug suspect Anthony Gaspar was about to get off his motorcycle when unidentified men fired at him in Barangay Addition Hills.
Gaspar died at the scene from gunshots to the head and body.
He allegedly yielded five sachets of shabu.
Police said Gaspar was on the drug watchlist and has a pending warrant of arrest for robbery.
In Quezon City, a suspected drug peddler known only as Bong was killed in a reported shootout with police on Tuesday.
Bong was slain at his house along First street in Barangay Holy Spirit.
Members of the Batasan police reportedly managed to buy P500 worth of shabu from Bong prior to the firefight.
He was declared dead on arrival at the East Avenue Medical Center from a gunshot to the head.
Thirty suspected drug pushers and users were arrested in separate operations in Pandacan and Tondo in Manila and the cities of Valenzuela, Navotas and Caloocan.
Police said they recovered 39 sachets of shabu and dried marijuana leaves from the suspects.
The suspects are being held at police detention cells on drug charges.
