LPU team competes in Oxford University
The Lyceum of the Philippines University College of Law Price Moot Court Team will represent the Philippines in the upcoming international rounds of the Monroe Price Media Law Moot Court Competition, to be held in Oxford University in April this year.
They will be joined by moot court teams from the University of the Philippines and the University of San Carlos.
Now on its 10th year, the competition aims to foster interest in some of the most cutting edge issues of our time relating to media law – the role of online intermediaries, free speech, and religion.
Regional rounds were held in the Americas, Europe, Africa, China, and South Asia, with the participation of more than 100 law schools worldwide.
Schools from the Philippines competed in the regional rounds, hosted by Renmin University in China toward the end of last year.
In their first international competition, the LPU team made a sweep of the preliminary rounds with a 3-0 win/ loss record against various universities in China, all by unanimous decision.
They also won over the University of the Philippines College of Law in the semifinal rounds and competed against the University of San Carlos in the finals.
LPU’s winning team is composed of Ann Gillian Tero, Diana Lou Boado, Maria Leonila Villegas, and Antonio Pagsibigan Jr. Their coach, lawyer Gil Anthony Aquino, was the co- captain of the team named the 2015 overall winner of the international rounds.
