‘North Wind’ at Art Anton
Art Anton presents “North Wind,” a group exhibition of art competition winners hailing from the Northern regions of the country. Participating artists are: Lotsu Manes, Jonathan Castro, Wilfredo Offemaria, Chris Sipat, Mike Villagante, Peter Abordo, Jojo Austria, Melvin Culaba, Norlie Meimban, Dennis Gonzales, Jonathan Dangue, Adrian Jay Manuel, Demi Padua, Brave Mabolo, Fitz Herrera, Rex Tatlong Hari. All are winners from art competitions launched by Philippine Art Awards, Metrobank, AAP, GSIS, and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.
The show opens on Feb. 23 and is on view until March 15.
The artists cover a range of themes that document humanity’s disillusion- ment with dreams and obsession with feminine beauty. There are images that convey extremes of psychological and emotional pain and physical suffering. In contrast are optimistic artworks that redeem man from his despair and self- destruction with visual messages of hope, grace, and deliverance.
Abstraction is served by artworks that celebrate the materiality of pigments and the expressive qualities of pure color, as well as question the limits of representation before the subject matter dissolves into pure painterly gestures.
Art Anton is at the G/F, S Maison, Conrad Hotel Manila, Marina Way, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City. For inquiries, call 551-3086 and 09223050196, or visit www.artanoton.com and art ant on gallery on Facebook and Instagram.
