‘Bongbong not interested in DILG post’

- By ALEXIS ROMERO

Former senator and defeated vice presidential candidate Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is not interested in becoming interior and local government secretary, President Duterte said yesterday.

“He is not interested,” Duterte said, on whether Marcos would be appointed to the post.

An online article published early this month claimed that Duterte would designate Marcos as interior and local government chief.

In an interview last June, Marcos said he wants to be labor secretary if ever Duterte decided to offer him a Cabinet post.

Marcos is a friend of Duterte, whose father Vicente served as Cabinet member of the former senator’s father, the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr.

The former senator lost to Vice President Leni Robredo by a slim margin of more than 200,000 votes, but has filed an electoral protest due to supposed irregularities in the canvassing.
