Pacquiao vs Khan: Where to?

- By ABAC CORDERO

Amir Khan, who is finally getting the fight he has always hoped for, is confident that he has or still has what it takes for him to beat Manny Pacquiao.

“It’s a fight I know I can win,” the 30-yearold British boxer said on Snapchat, a statement that was carried by boxing portal www.

boxingscene.com yesterday. The fight was announced the other day, and would take place on April 23.

But the venue has yet to be decided although people close to Pacquiao said the United Arab Emirates would host the fight. The UAE reportedly is offering Pacquiao a guaranteed purse of $38 million.

“Yes. It will be finalized next week,” said Pacquiao’s business manager, Eric Pineda.

Khan said he’s not sure yet where it will take place.

“There’s a couple of locations we’re looking at. One is (the) UK (United Kingdom), one is Dubai and one is in the USA,” he said.

At least the past couple of years, Khan had hoped to lure Pacquiao or retired superstar Floyd Mayweather Jr. into fighting him but failed.

Khan had to move up in weight to face middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez last May. It ended in a sixth-round knockout and Khan down on the floor.

But Khan insists that his countless rounds sparring with the Filipino senator while they both trained under Freddie Roach have given him the proper tools to beat Pacquiao.

“I know a lot about Pacquiao,” said Khan.
