Online hiring up 6%

Online job hiring in the Philippine­s has gotten off to a positive start in January, posting a six percent year-onyear growth amid a stable business environmen­t, an online research firm said.

Based on the latest Monster Employment Index (MEI), January online recruitmen­t projects a better picture of the succeeding months in the local hiring scene.

“Businesses are keen to hire in the country. Many local businesses have also chosen to set up in Philippine­s, and the demand for talent in the workforce is expected to see a spike across all levels,” said Sanjay Modi, Monster.

Software, hardware, and telecommun­ication roles took the lead in online demand, reporting a 25 percent growth during the period.

The business process outsourcin­g (BPO) and informatio­n technology ( IT) sectors saw a 22 percent growth while customer service roles grew 17 percent.
