Sulu to benefit from SM Foundation, Harbest farmers training
Some 190 participants from the different municipalities of Sulu joined SM Foundation representatives led by AVP for livelihood and outreach programs Cristie Angeles in the orientation of SM’s Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan (KSK) Rural Farmers’ Training Program.
Harbest Agribusiness Corp., a program partner of SM Foundation in its farmers’ training program was represented by its president Arsenio Barcelona who spoke about the dual- tech training program.
KSK training involves 12 weekly sessions onsite.
Participants are taught land preparation, including soil preparation and making of plots, aside from the use of organic fertilizers, proper seeding technology and even irrigation.
They also undergo values formation and taught the rudiments of accounting to prepare them to be entrepreneurs in the future.
Like previous training programs, participants will be given lessons on market linkages for them to be able to market their produce at the best price possible.
SM Foundation’s KSK Agri-Training and Capacity Building program is among the development programs introduced in Sulu in line with Go Negosyo Para Sa Kapayapaan Sa Sulu.
Go Negosyo Para Sa Kapayapaan Sa Sulu is an initiative aimed to bring peace and socio-economic development in the area. It encourages the help of the private sectors who can provide livelihood programs, technical skills training, housing projects, mentorship, facilities and infrastructure.
